The Heads from The Global Network of RSHM Schools met in Portugal from 28 June to 2 July. On 28th the group had a tour of Lisbon in tuc tucs (little motorised cars) stopping to appreciate local architecture, culture and cuisine. Friday 29th, Fatima was the destination for the next few days. After lunch at the RSHM school, the group gathered in a retreat house very close to the Sanctuary for two days of input, reflection as well as group and personal prayer. The theme of the days was “Nourishment from Scripture and from the Sources”. Sr Luisa Maria Almendra RSHM gave input on the Scripture and Sr. Kathleen Connell RSHM on the Sources. Both speakers brought scripture and sources alive and gave plenty of material for personal reflection and sharing. This retreat was the result of a request by the Heads for time to reflect and pray. The Heads had a meeting on the final afternoon to share and to plan for the year ahead, especially for the bi-annual conference to be held in Los Angeles in 2019. Sincere thanks was expressed to the co-ordinating committee facilitated by Sr. Mary Jo Martin, RSHM, for organising this unique meeting and to the Heads of the RSHM schools in Portugal for organising the logistics and for their warm welcome.
