Today is Easter Sunday, a day of great joy as we celebrate the resurrection of Christ. Happy Easter! Christ is risen—Alleluia, Alleluia!

In today’s Gospel (John 20:1–9), Mary Magdalene discovers that the stone covering Jesus’ tomb has been rolled away. Filled with urgency, she runs to inform the disciples. Peter and John then race to the tomb. Peter enters first, followed by John; they see, and they believe. They step into the unknown, this reveals a quiet but profound courage.

The image of the empty tomb is deeply moving. Though it appeared empty, it was in fact filled with the presence of Jesus. In that moment, the disciples remembered His words, and their understanding was enlightened. What they experienced was more than discovery—it was encounter. In that sacred space, where Jesus had once lain, they were touched by a sense of transcendence and underwent a life-changing transformation. The tomb itself became a place of revelation.

The resurrection of Jesus is a victory over the tomb—over death, despair, and finality.

What, then, does the “tomb” represent in our lives today? It may take the form of darkness, lifelessness, bondage, limitation, poverty, or grief. We all encounter such “tomb moments.” Yet the resurrection speaks powerfully into these places. It brings light where there is darkness, fullness where there is emptiness, freedom where there is bondage, and joy where there is sorrow.

Mary Magdalene also offers us a powerful example. Upon discovering the empty tomb, she did not remain there—she went and shared the news. Because of her witness, the disciples came to see and believe. Her response invites us to do the same: to allow ourselves to be touched by the risen Christ and to share that encounter with others.

May the risen Lord renew our hope, strengthen our faith, and fill our hearts with the light and joy of the Resurrection.

A wonderful Easter season to all!
