POST-EASTER TIME

The end-of-day walks, like those of the disciples of Emmaus; the opening of understanding through English classes and the sharing of aspects of financial management; and the informal conversations at table, in the breaking of bread, all were expressions of the Easter season as lived with the Sisters of the West American Area in Montebello, California, at Casa Guadalupe and the Convent.

It was within this simple and welcoming rhythm of life, marked by daily prayer and a blend of formal and informal conversations, that I came to know each of the Sisters and ours collaborators, as well as the life and mission of this part of the Institute.

There was also time to visit the Good Shepherd community and Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, and our Sisters at Regine Residence in Orange.

Although the time was brief (7-25 April), it was rich and intense, lived with joy and a deep inner consolation, as I experienced the Sisters’ strong sense of belonging, interest, and communion with the whole Institute.
