Laudato Si’ Week At Oporto School in Portugal

Posted May 20, 2021

The Laudato SI’ week, which runs from 16 to 25 May, instituted by Pope Francis aims to celebrate the great advances that the Church has made on the path of ecological conversion.

At the “Colégio do Rosário” School, we could not stay indifferent to this proposal and, therefore, we will mobilize the whole community around the adoption of measures that allow us to take care of the Common House we inhabit.

Even in this pandemic context, we could not let this opportunity to raise awareness among the educational community about the problems that threaten the planet pass us by, but above all about the active role that each one of us can play in solving them.

Throughout this week, small films made by the Biology and Geology students of the 10th grade will be presented in all classes, to which they will add posters with proposals of measures that each member of the educational community can adopt. The aim is for each member to commit to practising the adopted measure until it is properly internalised so that, afterwards, they can move on to the next one.

We believe in the capacity of mobilisation of our students and in the sensibility of the whole community around this cause and, therefore, we are sure that, by the end of the year, we will have our “Sustainability Network” covered with environmental commitments, fully assumed and implemented.

We know that we can count on everyone’s contribution, because taking care of our planet is also an excellent way of promoting LIFE.
