To Live with Joy

The opening prayer

O God, as we faithfully await the birth of your son Jesus, let us be glad and rejoice in our families, our communities, and in our Institute. Amen.

What is Advent?

Advent simply mean waiting “A season of time in preparation that direct our hearts and minds to Christ’s second coming at the end of time and to the anniversary of our Lord’s birth at Christmas”.

The Third Sunday of Advent is the Sunday of Rejoicing

The reason we rejoice on the third Sunday of Advent is because our faith and God’s love moves us to rejoice.

As we light the third candle of our Advent wreath we rejoice to know that God has come to give us the fullness of life and joy.

In (Luke 2:10-10) an angel declares to the shepherds “I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people”.

From the Gospel Reading (John1:6-8, 19-28)

The person of John the Baptist brings us another step closer to what we celebrate at Christmas.

John the Baptist came to prepare the way for the Lord, to baptize as a sign of repentance, and to proclaim the good news of the kingdom of God to the people, to bear witness to the light and that through him people may believe in the person of Christ.

As Christians we are called to know and understand what we celebrate during the season of Advent, in the gospel reading we are all invited to come to the lord, to prepare the way for his coming by Spending time in personal prayer, receiving the sacrament of Penance regularly, going to Mass more often, not losing hope and Continuing doing the work of Jesus Christ.

Concluding Prayer

Help us Lord to be like John the Baptist, filled with your spirit and brave enough to say and do what is right. Give us the courage to choose the right way, despite what others might say or think, because we believe in you and love you with all our hearts. AMEN.
