The Sisters of the Mozambique Area are gathered at the Episcopal House in the Diocese of Gurué until January 16 for their Annual Retreat and Regional Assembly, under the theme: “Celebrating 75 years of life in the Area, looking back on the past with gratitude, living the present with new energy, and looking to the future with hope.” They traveled from different locations, and the tiredness of the journey was overcome by the joy of arrival, with hugs, welcome greetings, and open hearts.
This intense time of encounter, prayer, and discernment is a privileged opportunity to deepen fraternal communion, strengthen unity, and renew commitment to the mission, in light of the history lived and the challenges of the present.
The opening ceremony was attended by Bishop Inácio Lucas of the Diocese of Gurué, who greeted the Sisters and, before the inaugural lecture, shared information about the dismemberment of the Diocese of Gurué from the Diocese of Molócuè, highlighting the main challenges faced in this process.
On January 18, after the Assembly, the Mozambique Area will also experience the joy of celebrating the Perpetual Vows of Sister Luísa Bernardo, a moment of profound thanksgiving for the entire Area and for the Institute.
The Institute’s Leadership Team is dedicatedly accompanying the Mozambique Area in the experience of these events and is represented by Sr. Mª Teresa Nogueira, who is participating in the entire program. Grateful for her presence and participation, we also invite the entire Institute to accompany this significant time in prayer, joining the Sisters of the Mozambique Area in this moment of grace, hope, and renewal.
