We are in the Second Sunday of Lent — a strong time of inner journey, conversion, and climbing the mountain with the Lord. The three readings of this Sunday come together in one word: CALLING.
In the first reading, God calls Abraham to leave his land, his family, his securities. It is a calling to go out and to trust. Abraham does not know where he is going, but he trusts the promise.
In the second reading, Saint Paul reminds us that God calls us to holiness, not because of our works, but because of His grace. It is a calling to live the Gospel with courage, even in the midst of difficulties.
In the Gospel, at the Transfiguration, the Father reveals Jesus and says, “Listen to Him.” It is a calling to listen, to obedience, and to trust in the light that overcomes darkness.
Thus, on this Sunday, God calls us to: go out, trust, and listen.
Spirituality of Lent on this Sunday
Lent is a climb up the mountain. Climbing requires effort. It requires fasting, prayer, and charity. It requires silence in order to listen.
We cannot remain only in the contemplation of the light. After the mountain, we must come down and face reality with renewed faith.
Today’s world needs transfigured Christians — people who bring hope where there is discouragement, reconciliation where there is division, honesty where there is corruption.
Final invitation
On this Second Sunday of Lent, the Lord makes us a concrete invitation:
To leave everything that distances us from God.
To listen more to the Word and less to the voices that confuse us.
To be a sign of hope in our family and in our community.
Let us ask ourselves:
From which land do I need to depart this Lent?
Whose voice am I listening to?
Where can I be light in today’s reality?
May this week be a true step of conversion.
Lord, help us to trust like Abraham, to live with courage like Paul, and to listen to You in the midst of the difficulties of our country.
