Today is the first Sunday of lent. In the gospel reading we are encountering Jesus Christ being led by the spirit into the desert into the wilderness, where he is going to spend 40 days and 40 nights with God in prayer and fasting. During this time Christ was renewed, he was given all the necessary power that he needed to go and minister to the people of God, to go and work with those that the father entrusted to him.

As Christians, as Catholics, we are invited also and I invite you this next 40 days to go into the wilderness with Christ, to find time out of our routines to find time out of our normalcy, to go and pray to fast and to give alms.

We also see Jesus Christ as he was being tempted by the evil one, how he used scripture to counter each and every temptation that the devil put before him.

I was very inspired by this tremendous knowledge of scripture and love of scripture that Jesus Christ had. it showed that he had a good relationship with his father it showed that he took his time studying the word of God and making it something that inspires him each and every day.

I invite you also to take this time to deepen your knowledge to deepen your your love of scripture
as I would do this sentence season.

I invite you to use scripture so that you renew yourself so that you can repossess your identity
as a child of God; a daughter, a son of God this Lenten season let’s take the word of God is the psalmist says a path, a lamp for our feet as we journey during this next 40 days and 40 nights.

May the Lord bless us!
