Focus Our Sight on Jesus

Christmas 2025

Christmas is approaching! The Advent Season has invited us to openness to deep renewal of our spiritual journey, beckoning us to encounter God through attentiveness to movements within us, among us, and around us, preparing us to be receptive to God’s mystery incarnate among us.

This invitation is for everyone, it is inclusive. Each one of us, in our state, are called to embrace and share God’s incredible love with each other and those we encounter. The Season of Advent, therefore, reminds us that our faith is never meant to be a solitary endeavour, but a joint, active listening – hopeful waiting for the coming of Christ among and within us.

Our active listening to the Spirit opens our ears, eyes and hearts to many situations of suffering in today’s world. We are invited to look at the world with fresh eyes and hear with fresh ears to perceive injustices.

As we approach the manger this Christmas, we focus our gaze on Jesus, born anew into the mangers of our hearts. Let us allow Christ Child to illuminate our synodal journey in the different realities where we find ourselves: “…walking together, strengthening bonds of belonging and participation…” so that all may have life.
